Elgin wrongly shut my water off when I had a newborn at home. I called the office and a lady told me because my neighbor didn't pay, mine was shut off and I had to tell them to pay, for mine to get turned on. She then told me to call the police to talk to my neighbor if I wouldn't. I called the police and they must have talked to her manager because the police called me back to say the city would be turning my water back on. Wild that an employee is allowed to lie and spread false information, and be rude while doing it.

Got ripped off $500 for a $280 electric scooter. Got it impounded 09/02/2025 because in July 2025 they decided to ban anything without pedals, and do NOTHING to communicate this to the public. Paid 09/09/25 the $100 fine and 09/28/25 I get a letter in the mail saying its still unpaid. Out $650 from the city of elgin due to incompetence. If the IRS wants me to pay my taxes, this is why I cannot <3

I recently had a tree cut down on our parkway that was affecting the safety of people walking on our street. I wasn't sure who to direct this to to commend your tree cutting crew. The men were so professional and friendly and came back today to grind the stump. This tree had been a problem for a long time and being seniors we did not have the money to do it ourselves. I originally called 311 to let the city know there was a big branch that had split and could have been hazardous to people walking. Within only 2 days a crew came out and said the tree needed to come down. Thank you so much for hiring the competent and friendly people to do this hard work. They did a great job and they were excellent!!! Please let them know. I appreciate the fact that you acted so quickly avoiding a hazardous situation. I went to the Center of Elgin to use the track. I have been recovering from Surgery for months & finally needed to get moving. I do prefer to walk outside but it's too cold. Of course it's been busy there after the New Year. It's a nice place to get my steps in. Been going there for years. I put my music on & get moving. I only do 2 miles but it's still good to get the blood flowing after not doing much for months. If the weather outside is too hot or too cold, it's a nice place to get my steps in. I do enjoy it!

Not a walkable place. I took my car to be serviced at a local dealership. I decided to walk to a nearby restaurant for breakfast. I made it some of the way, then the sidewalk ended. After breakfast I thought I would go to a nearby nature area. Nope, no safe way to get there on foot. There was a traffic light to cross Randall Road, but ZERO crosswalks. What is sad is this would have taken me into a residential area. How can you have a residential area but no safe way to get to the businesses in the area. A lot of work needs to be done to make the area people friendly.
